Resume yesyes & nono

I tell you all ah! Every Mon-Fri when I go to work, looking at my least 50 emails regarding of CVs overnight... I dunno want to laugh or cry!!!!

Thus below are how should your ideal resume should & should not be:-

1. Full name
Please don't state your self-given nicknames!!! Please state as what is in your IC! If it's a normal name still alright. For abnormal names like Ayumi, unless you're a Japanese, otherwise please state what your real name is. Nobody wants to know your act-kawaii-ttm names.

2. Address
You don't have to state your full address, but at least the street name and postal code. Employer will definitely will want to know if your home is near their workplace. Well, unless you stay in the forest.. IF NOT, PLEASE STATE!! We do not welcome guessing games.

3. Birthday
When I say birthday, it includes the YEAR!!! Especially females.. cb! you so sensitive for the age for what? Sooner or later people will also know your true age. Tsk. And please check carefully before submitting.. Today I have another candidate, she wrote 18th May 2010. Not bad ah. 5 months old can submit resume already. Lol

4.Nationality
You might have a Eurasian name like Awesome Charlene! LOL (Joking ah!) But that doesn't mean you are from angmo country. If you are a SPR (Singapore Permanent Resident), please state as well. Confirm will increase your employment rate one.. coz to be honest local companies would still prefer to hire Singaporeans/SPR as there won't be much paperwork or documentation to do. Plus they find locals more reliable.

This does not apply to all, but is to my experience. Thanks. Don't assume I'm a racist.
Oh! Include your race as well. Religion is not compulsory, have or don't have doesn't matter one.

5. Gender
Male or Female!! Don't state nonsense like Lesbian or Gay. Those are not genders. Geddit? If you are on your way to not be your actual gender as what you mom born you to,please state as well. We are not intruding your privacy, but some employers might not accept you. So it's best if you are honest, who knows the employer might hire you because he/she finds you truthful.

Or you don't have to state on your resume, you may tell him/her when they called you up. Personally I think it would be better. You would be able to differentiate whether are they sincere.

6. Academic
Like obtained your qualification (which includes majoring in what course) in what school/year. Those with super lower class honours or fail grades.. please don't bother to put coz there nothing to be proud of. Thanks.

7. Working experience
Ah! This one I must emphasize!!! Working experience hor... please include the month and the year!!!!! Imagine you state 2001-2002, some people will think maybe is Dec 2001 - Jan 2002 what! So please ah! State all the details.

Your position!!!!! Who will know what you are working as in ur company? You never state how will anyone know.

Company name too! Please. Don't give rubbish reasons like Part-time so I don't know the company. You should jolly well know, if you don't know.. it only reflects how "anyhow" you are.

And also.... YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES!
DO NOT PUT "Listen the phone" or "Throw rubbish" (They don't need a summarize ttm person)

State like "Handling phone calls & enquiries from customers" OR "Maintain counter/office cleanliness i.e, disposing unwanted items."

Look more pro right? see liao also song right?

8. Skills
Software, Hardware, Technical Hands-on.. any skills that will help you in your preferred job. Please do not mention that your flirting skills is good. If I see your resume, I confirm kan you one!

9. Certifications
Any certificates that will help you in your future employment too. This does not apply to "Sparks Certified Dancers" or "Certified Blogger". Thanks ah!

10. Language written/spoken
This is very straight-forward. Can speak what, can write what. If you are a basic Japanese level student. Don't bother to put "I can read a few japanese words." Can read/speak/write means can, no need to a few or not a few. You think the employers bother? -.-

Unless maybe if you are joining some Japanese company, maybe still acceptable. But my advise? Don't bother.

12. Availability
When can you start work? Immediate? 1 month notice? Don't apply when you are only have the intention to leave your company 6 months later. You think employers will wait for you?

Plus if you are good, you shouldn't be worried if nobody wants you after 6 months.

13. Expected and last drawn salary
As you guys can see in the previous post, I asked a candidate what wass his last drawn and he said A lot! -.- Imagine how torhui I felt at that point of time.

Also, if you are earning 1k currently and you looking at a 2k or 3k salary. Please by all means go fuck the chair. 10-20% increment is acceptable. Anything more than that, is not acceptable. I will not forward your resume to my client either because they will not see you.

Please break down your gross salary too. E.g. $1200 (basic) + $400 (commission) + $200 (Meal allowance) + $600 (Transport Allowance). Don't gei khiang state the whole salary. Nobody will dare to hire you.

Lastly, for photos.. only if your photos are presentable.. E.g.?

- Plain background
- Demure/Smart looking
- Well-groomed

If not please don't bother to attach your own photo if you, yourself, aint confident with it, especially if you are doing positions that you will need to face clients, customers etc.

NO modeling shoots as well please. You are not heading for casting. Thanks!
NO cleavage photos too! Thanks. You are not applying for a social escort/geylang chicken.
NO self taken act-cute shoots too. You want to put that? Only in your facebook.
NO eating-while-taking-picture photos. YOU ARE NOT APPLYING FOR A FOOD TASTER.
NO photos taken in the toilet. Girls, we do not want to know your a cam whore.
NO 10 years ago photos!!! Unless you still look the same, if not don't even bother.
NO black & white shots too. You should know why lah hor?

And other weird photos that are not suppose to be in a resume that you think of. Thanks.

Anyway, my conclusion is.. a resume is to promote yourself to Recruitment Consultants, Employers, HR, Hiring Managers etc. Adding unwanted not not useful descriptions will not improve the chances of getting shortlist for interview.

Keep your resume updated as well!!! Don't send 2 years ago resume to a new company when you have already left your previous company which you did not state in the resume.

You may state your Cover Letter as well. But not make it like a composition, nobody likes to read so much. Thanks.

Keep your font/font size need and tidy. Arial/Tahoma/Verdana/Times New Roman is good enough. Size 12 is perfect. Bold parts like subtitles etc. Highlight words if you find it important and relevant for the position that you are applying for, if you are unsure, do not gei khiang! Just leave them alone.

This is an example of not to put on your resume! Ok lah, I just want to post this pic of myself coz I find it quite chio, a bit act innocent and fragile but sexy look. LOL

Anyway, this is taken during KL with Baby! :) His the photographer. Love it max! Hahaha.

Ok, I hope I've helped you in the resume part!
